Summer in Rouyn-Noranda: Activities, Nature, Relaxation & Festivals

Looking for a getaway that combines nature, relaxation, culture, and city life? Here’s a glimpse of my summer discoveries in Rouyn-Noranda, a vibrant, authentic, and welcoming region. Here, happiness is cultivated amidst rich biodiversity, and every stop allowed me to slow down, reconnect, and fully savor the moment.

Pedestrian District

Downtown | Open daily June 19–August 17, 2025

Downtown Rouyn-Noranda is a place to discover on foot, one step at a time. That’s what the Downtown District offers all summer long. As soon as I arrived, I was charmed by the unique atmosphere: a sweet scent of flowers mingles with the buzz of the lively terraces, creating an ambiance that is both vibrant and laid-back. The street is beautifully landscaped with flower-filled corners, tables, lounge areas, and carefully decorated shops.

We take the time to stroll, shop, and discover small local boutiques. The neighborhood is full of restaurants offering delicious summer menus and colorful cocktails to enjoy in the sunshine. It all takes place in a friendly atmosphere, perfect for meeting locals, who are always welcoming and eager to chat a bit. Add to that a dynamic summer lineup that brings the street to life all summer long.

Tour of Lake Osisko

RécréOsisko: 191 Avenue du Lac | Daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Just a stone’s throw from downtown, Lake Osisko offers a magnificent 8-kilometer loop bike path, perfect for an active outing in the heart of the city. Located right on the lakefront, RécréOsisko is the ideal spot to rent a bike or a boat (yes, it’s free!) before setting off on your adventure.

The selection of equipment is impressive: electric bikes, tandems, adult tricycles, child seats and trailers, not to mention kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats. Everything you need is here to explore the lake’s surroundings at your own pace, whether on two wheels or on the water.

What did I particularly like? The friendly welcome and attentive service from the on-site team. Within minutes, I was on a bike, the wind in my hair, discovering nature… right in the heart of the city. A must-visit spot to get active and fully enjoy the area.

A Little Urban Paradise | Whether you’re playing volleyball, splashing around in the water, walking along the trail, or simply relaxing in the sun, Kiwanis Beach and the Agnico Eagle Recreation Area have something for everyone. The atmosphere is fun-filled, the facilities are accessible and free, and there’s something for everyone.

It’s amazing how you can go from the hustle and bustle of downtown to the tranquility of a lakeside setting in just a few minutes!

Aiguebelle National Park

12373 Rte d’Aiguebelle | Daily from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from May 30 to September 1, 2025

Aiguebelle National Park is nature in its purest form. Visitors come for the breathtaking scenery, the well-maintained trails, the famous suspension bridge, and the unique atmosphere of camping in the forest.

I chose the Passerelle Trail (which recently reopened!) and I’ll warn you: the hike is well worth it. Every bit of effort is rewarded with breathtaking views, perfect for a photo break or simply to take it all in.

For even more beautiful views of Lake Lahaie and the footbridge, I highly recommend a trip in a rabaska!

Spa Garden – Thermal Circuit

41 6th Street | Daily 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM

After a busy day, it’s time to unwind. Head to the Jardin Spa to enjoy the thermal circuit experience. Hot and cold pools, three saunas with different atmospheres, and inviting, cozy relaxation areas. Everything is designed to help your body and mind unwind.

The atmosphere is enveloping: soothing scents, relaxing music, soft lighting. A moment of pure well-being. The on-site bistro even lets you extend your break while still in your robe. Once I was settled in, I just wanted time to stand still.

Osisko in the Spotlight: Westwood

Edmund Horne Square | August 5–9, 2025

In August, the city comes alive with Osisko en lumière Westwood, a music festival that transforms the shores of Lake Osisko into a true outdoor stage. On the agenda: concerts, light installations, a festive atmosphere, and a wild crowd.

This music festival, which spans several days of festivities, offers an immersive experience featuring dozens of local and international artists performing on five stages.

It’s one of the major cultural events of the summer in Rouyn-Noranda, and for me, it’s a moment I won’t miss!

An exciting summer in Rouyn-Noranda

Rouyn-Noranda offered me a blend of emotions, landscapes, and simple pleasures. There’s a sense of harmony between people and nature, between the city and the forest. It’s a destination where you can both find happiness and explore biodiversity in all its richness. So, when are you planning your trip?
