Gift Ideas in Abitibi-Témiscamingue: Experience the Region Differently

This year, we’re giving the region as a gift. There are countless ways to give Abitibi-Témiscamingue as a gift. Whether it’s an experience, food, or even jewelry, there’s something for everyone.

How do you give an experience as a gift? It’s quite simple. You go based on your loved one’s tastes, buy a gift card, or make a reservation in their name. In fact, the key is simply to choose the right kind of experience that will appeal to the person you’re giving it to.

Family and Teens

Many parents want to spend time with their families. A family day of skiing at Mont-Vidéo or Mont Kanasuta is sure to please sports enthusiasts. The more tech-savvy will undoubtedly enjoy trying out a new board game at Escario in Rouyn-Noranda. While you’re there, why not give an escape room a try! You can also try escape rooms, board games, or retro consoles at Code César in Amos. The arcades at Centre Méga are another great option for kids and adults alike! Teens who are hard to convince will fall in love with the dogs at La Meute de la Petite Germaine. A dog-sledding experience is a memorable treat for the whole family.

Stressed-out people

Giving someone a relaxing experience is always a thoughtful gesture. A gift certificate to a spa is the perfect way to do just that. In the region, we have Le Blanc Nordic Spa in Val-d’Or. This urban spa offers an outdoor thermal experience.

In Rouyn-Noranda, the new Jardin Spa – Circuit thermal offers a boreal and multisensory thermal experience.

In both cases, giving the gift of relaxation is truly precious!

Your music-loving brother-in-law

Did you get your music-loving brother-in-law in the family gift exchange? No problem! Some festivals and venues, like the Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda (PTVN), offer gift certificates. Plus, for every ticket purchased in December at the PTVN, $2 is donated to Alternative pour elles.

Alternatively, events like the Festival d’humour en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FHAT) have special sales. From December 16 to 23, FHAT is offering a 50% discount on the second passport.

Plus, the surprise will be twofold when the lineup for the chosen festival is revealed. Your brother-in-law will be thinking of you twice as much.

We all know someone who already has everything! That’s why a culinary experience—like a nice meal at a restaurant—is sure to make for a wonderful time.

For example, L’Éden Rouge in St-Bruno-de-Guigues is hosting several culinary events this winter.

For its part, Pizzé offers gift cards, as does Microbrasserie le Prospecteur.

Just thinking about it is making us hungry!

To express our feelings

Of course, our favorite jewelry brand is Scaro. For those who want to pull out all the stops or make a grand gesture this holiday season, a piece of Scaro jewelry will beautifully express your feelings.

In addition to hosting a fascinating exhibition on the builders of Rouyn-Noranda, Maison Dumulon features a shop selling local food products and crafts. Gift baskets are even available on site.

The MA Musée d’Art de Rouyn-Noranda shop is brimming with unique products imbued with beautiful regional significance. Among other things, you’ll find a variety of books, works of art, and Indigenous and non-Indigenous crafts from the region. You can also sign up for art classes, whether for adults or children.

The Centre d’exposition le Rift in Ville-Marie also has its own shop featuring jewelry and clothing in local colors. You can also sign up your children or those of a loved one for art classes there!

This holiday season, let’s keep in mind the importance of shopping locally and ethically. An experience shared with family or a loved one stays in your memory much longer than some gadget ordered on Amazon. Let’s go see what the region has to offer and enjoy it!
