Spring, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, is truly an awakening of the senses. From the BBQ smell to the rubber boots reappearing, and the first crowded terraces, here are 5 signs that do not lie: warmer days are finally here!
1- The first BBQ meals honor us with their scent
Nothing matches the smell of food on a fire grill! As soon as the temperature gets more comfortable, we take out the tongs (we instinctively make them clap, clap, clap) and we heat up the grill. If you're enjoying springs in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, go to Les Becs Sucrés-Salés in Val-d’Or, and its exceptional local products selection: discover it here.

To enhance your experience, how about a great cocktail made with Alpha Tango’s spirits? The only thing missing is to call your family and to invite the neighbours! Cheers! Pssst. Find a cocktail recipe right here!
2 - The Rubber Boots are now in style
The snow melts, the slush takes place and the ground becomes… let’s say less cooperative. Rubber Boots become the must-have Springtime fashion accessories in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
Kids love them, they allow them to jump into water puddles and to play in mud as well.
Whether we call them Ducks or “Botte à pine” (Rubber Boots), they are essential to make your way between water puddles and the Springtime slush.

3- The Neighbour has “cleaned” its lawn (yes, we are talking about dog poop)
We cannot ignore this reality: the return of the warmer days rimes also with the great Spring cleaning… of the lawn! The melting of the snow reveals sometimes a few surprises left behind by our loyal fur companions. But we forgive them, especially when we think of the amazing hikes we can do with them in the springs scattered across Abitibi-Témiscamingue!
Here are a few suggestions to enjoy nature with Fido this Spring season:

- The Sentiers Pédestres du Mont Bell (du Mont Bell Hiking Trails), in the Senneterre sector in the Vallée-de-l’Or, present several kilometers covering difficulty levels from easy to moderate.

4- The Lakes Started to “Sink”
In Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the biggest Springtime show, it is the ice melting on our favorite lakes. In Rouyn-Noranda, we can admire the Lac Osisko (Osisko Lake) and the Lac Kiwanis (Kiwanis Lake) to see which one will sink first. This impressive phenomenon indicates the transition from Winter to the warmer season and marks a true spring awakening in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
And you, which lake do you watch with impatience?

5- The inhabitants seek a place under the Sun… on the terraces!
Who already shoveled snow in order to make some space under the Sun? Here, as soon as the temperatures soften up, we set up the chairs outside and enjoy the first sunrays!
As the maple sap begin to flow again, the terrace lovers revisit their favorite spots in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and observe the awakening spring.
A few must-see places where to enjoy a drink outside and have a bite:
• The Trèfle Noir in Rouyn-Noranda;
• The DEUXPARQUATRE in Rouyn-Noranda;
• The Olive et Basil in Rouyn-Noranda;
• The Microbrasserie Le Prospecteur in Val-d'Or;
• The Bar Bistro L’Entracte in Val-d’Or;
• The Bistro O'Shack in Laniel in the Témiscamingue sector;
