The MRC de La Vallée-de-l’Or’s mission is to stimulate the development of its territory in collaboration with its municipalities by offering quality services to citizens. The MRC of La Vallée-de-l’Or remains the largest municipal entity in the region with an area of 27,356.04 km2. The City of Senneterre alone covers 60% of the territory of the MRC, or 16,456.63 km2. More than 97% of the territory is made up of national forests included in both the boreal forest and mixed forest zones. The MRC is also characterized by the presence of numerous bodies of water: there are 11,301 lakes and 8,000 rivers.
