A Key Tool for Snowmobilers

Rouyn-Noranda, February 2nd, 2016 – Snowmobilers traveling on Abitibi-Témiscamingue’s 3,700 kilometers of marked trails can now rely on an innovative tool for a very enjoyable and safe experience.

With MySnowmobileGuide AT, an application developed by Tourisme Abitibi-Témiscamingue (TAT), users can visualize the region’s entire snowmobile trail system, the location of points of service, and their position in real time from their mobile telephone or other mobile devices, even outside connection areas.  « The region is known for its beauty, vastness, hospitality and well-groomed and well-marked trails. This new application confirms again our determination to be a first-rate snowmobile destination in North America« , says the chairman of Tourisme Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Émilien Larochelle.

With this application, users can also:

  • Check trail conditions;
  • Select any of the proposed routes;
  • Create a personalized itinerary;
  • Get information on accommodation packages;
  • Check opening hours quickly, and get a description and the address of points of service (shelters, restaurants, accommodation establishments, gas stations and snowmobile dealers);
  • Check their speed;
  • Check weather conditions in real time.

The application is available NOW in French and English on App Store and Google Play.

The dissemination of MySnowmobileGuide will be supported considerably through the series of activities of Tourisme Abitibi-Témiscamingue as part of its Winter 2016 promotional campaign, which chiefly targets markets in Ontario, the United States and Quebec. Advertisement placements in specialized media, media relations and broadcast of a promotional video directed by Dominic Leclerc are key elements of this promotional campaign.  The slogan « Snowmobiling at its purest! » is still reflective of the region as a great snowmobile destination. « What we offer here is an experience centered on snowmobiling. The clientele targeted by our promotional efforts are tourists who wish to ride their snowmobiles on wide and well-groomed trails, who want to eat well and sleep comfortably. This application meets those needs in that it is a reference tool that snowmobilers can use throughout their stay in the region and gives them a sense of security« , says Stéphanie Lamarche, Assistant Director General of Tourisme Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

The promotional campaign and tools would not have been possible without the cooperation of Economic Development Canada, Tourisme Québec and our hotel partners. « We would like to thank the tremendous work accomplished by the snowmobile clubs. These people go the extra mile to make sure that we can ride our snowmobile on trails with such a good reputation. Without them, there would be no such product », concludes Mr. Larochelle.
