A few gourmet stops to eat on the go

The roads of Abitibi-Témiscamingue offer unsuspected treasures: welcoming and familial sites hidden in the heart of villages or just on the side of main arteries. Whether it be to snack on the road, between two outdoors outings, after the visit of a historical site, or to stock up before a night of camping, here are some suggestions of restaurants and canteens where to stop to enjoy a meal (or a treat!) fast and in an unforgettable ambience.

Dépanneur 111/Rest’eau du quai

Located close to a camping site, a boat ramp, games and a children park, the Rest’eau du quai restaurant invites you to stop for a moment to take the time to enjoy a family meal on a waterside terrace with a breathtaking view on Lake Macamic. Finish your visit with a delicious cone of soft-serve ice cream before, why not, leaving to explore the Grand Héron hiking trail and lookout.

Where: 90, 1ere rue E, Macamic

Souvenirs d’Antan restaurant and convenience store

Resto-dépanneur Souvenirs d’Antan allows you to dive in the heart of the village of Guérin and its history. You will be able to taste meals prepared by people of Guérin who are carrying on the knowledge of their ancestors, Canadian meals or fast food, while stocking up on goods for the road. It is the perfect extension of a visit to the Musée de Guérin, which retraces the high points of the familial and social life of the village, of the influential characters of Témiscamingue, and the great mutations that transformed the agricultural world and the rural life at the turn of the 1950s.

Where: 913, rue Principale N, Guérin

Manoir des rapides

In the heart of the charming village of Preissac, by the Kinojévis River, Manoir des rapides is the perfect stop to eat in a quiet and charming environment after having climbed a rock face, paddled on the nearby lakes, or simply on your way to Amos and its surroundings. The restaurant offers a menu going from poutine to table d’hôte, as well as draught and microbrewery beers. It is also possible to do some last minute shopping thanks to the convenience store service and to fill up your tank to continue the great road trip that awaits you in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Where: 912, avenue du Lac, Preissac

La Calvette

In the village of Landrienne, behind a Western-style façade and in a unique decor, you can find a general store and its canteen that offers a variety of pizzas, subs, ready-made meals and homemade desserts. There, you will find vinyls, hardware, products from the SAQ, gift ideas, and many other surprises.

Where: 119, avenue Principale O, Landrienne

Glass dairy bar

Time for dessert! With boldness and creativity, Glass reinvents the codes of soft-serve ice cream, nothing less. In its famous blue container anchored in downtown Rouyn-Noranda, the dairy bar offers quality ice cream that you can supplement with a ton of different dips with sometimes surprising but always delicious flavours. The menu offers eclectic creations, cold drinks, mochis, sorbets, and stands out by offering a variety of dairy-free and gluten-free products.
