We toured the region’s farmers’ markets and dropped by several popular events to ask the locals about their must-see spots for tourists. Here are their top picks for the Témiscamingue RCM.
1. Parc national d’Opémican
It’s the new favourite among locals! I mean, could there be anything more gorgeous than the Grande Chute? And the tall pine trees are the stuff of fairytales. You’ll love the campground and the experience of the Étoile ready-to-camps. It’s hard to resist the bewitching combination of history (the old logging camp) and nature!

2. Obadjiwan Fort-Témiscamingue national historic site
After thousands of years of Indigenous settlement, this site gave way to trade wars between competing fur traders. Visitors love the interesting history, savage beauty, enchanted forest, and beach.

3. La Bannik
The perfect place to unwind. Audrey from Rouyn-Noranda sums it up perfectly: “Cabins with a jacuzzi, good times, good food and plenty of rest.” Others come for the massages, the landscapes, the patio overlooking Lac Témiscamingue, and the range of summer and winter activities.
4. saint-Bruno-de-Guigues
Of course, there’s the charming agricultural landscape and the nearby Lac Témiscamingue, but this town’s real charm comes from the people: At Éden Rouge, at the Ferme Nordvie or at the Domaine Breen historic site.

5. Downtown Ville-Marie
With its marina, sailboats, stunning view of Lac Temiscamingue, boardwalk and outdoor stage, Ville-Marie is one of the most beautiful villages in Québec. We like to visit Les Chocolats Martine and the Le Rift Galerie, Théâtre, Cinéma.

6. Halte de la Tête-du-lac ou « côte à Perreault »
Probably the most well-known rest stop in the region, it’s also a great spot for a picnic. Of course, you’ll appreciate the services, but you’ll go mainly for the “stunning view of Lac Témiscamingue!” - France, St-Bruno-de-Guigues
7. Récré-eau des Quinze
This network of trails, located in a watershed, was once a route for the local Indigenous peoples. Today, hydropower stations are part of the landscape. Each trail along the water is dotted with picnic tables and many lookouts for enjoying the view.
8. Pointe aux roches
The trails located along the rocky point are great for both biking and hiking, offering a spectacular view of Lac des Quinze.

9. Musée de la gare
Built in 1927, this train station has been restored and made accessible to visitors. An exhibition traces its development as a hub for the entire community. After your visit, we recommend you visit the local lookouts and the Circuit des conduites forcées.
10. Fromagerie Le Fromage au village
Locals have a soft spot for this cheesemaker, which sells a delicious cheese curd and mouthwatering artisanal cheeses such as Cru du clocher and Cœur du village. They also love co-owner Hélène and her passion and hospitality, not to mention her summer events.
11. Route 101 between Témiscaming and Laniel
The winding road, with its many hills and dips, is a favourite with motorcyclists, but that’s not all. It winds its way through the tall pines, offering magnificent views of Lac Témiscamingue and other nearby lakes and rivers. End your walk with a stop at Kabane du panache restaurant in Laniel.
